More Red Carpet Glamour at the 83rd Academy Awards

As they say, "all roads lead to the Oscars." Nowadays, that phrase is not limited to the culmination of an actress's film career but also about her ability to come up with a look, deserving of that much coveted Oscar. If you want to witness fashion at its very best, the 83rd Academy Awards is the go-to event.

Here are some of the lovely gowns featured in this prestigious event courtesy of

This year's winner for Best Supporting Actress, Melissa Leo is draped in a white Marc Bouwer dress that comes as a lovely diversion from her downplayed look in the movie, "The Fighter."

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson shines in a stunning Versace gown made even more dramatic by its decolletage.

Oscar winner Halle Berry arrives in an elegant nude and crystal encrusted Marchesa corset gown with organza and silk tulle ruffles that complements her skin color and chic hairstyle.

Another Oscar winner, Reese Witherspoon is seen here wearing a black and white Giorgio Armani PrivĂ© evening gown highlighted by a white silk band at the decolletage and a subtle train. Reese makes this strapless gown her own by adding a pair of tear-drop earrings, bracelets and rings designed by Neil Lane

Last year's best actress winner Sandra Bullock in a sizzling hot Vera Weng dress that shows off her form to perfection.

Oscar winner and nominee Nicole Kidman wears a beautiful Dior dress matched with a rare 19th century diamond Riviere necklace from Fred Leighton. She completes the look with a pair of Pierre Hardy shoes.

Oscar award winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow dons a gorgeous Calvin Klein Collection dress and Brian Atwood’s gold leather “Martina” pumps. To spruce up her wardrobe, she adds a pair of  earrings, a brooch, and a ring from Louis Vuitton’s jewelry collection, L’Ame du Voyage. Completing the look is a poker straight chic hairstyle done by Harry Josh.

A rare photo op with two award winning actresses.

Scarlett Johanssen looks every bit of perfection in this gorgeous maroon dress by Dolce & Gabbana. Completing the look is a pair of Anna Hu studs, a ring, a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes and of course her short tousled hair that adds an eclectic flavor to the ensemble.

With a billion people projected to watch the 83rd Academy Awards, it is not hard to imagine why Hollywood celebrities together with their stylists and make-up artists try to create a truly memorable look. Since everyone's interested in fashion, celebrities know that their style will be dissected, nitpicked on by the critics and even copied by the public. The Oscars might just be for a night, but the photos live on forever. Caffe Ti-amo: Where Elegance Meets Warm Comfort

In between bites, Mars Cel and I tried to catch up with everything that's been happening with---the world of Koreanovelas. What better way to unleash our true selves than at Caffe Ti-amo, a very popular South Korean coffee chain which was brought here to the country by Jollibee Foods Corporation and local entrepreneur Pamela Tan. The elegance is deceiving.  For behind it all is a friendly staff  who gives new meaning to the word "customer service."

Five Styles of Korean Ramen

Just recently Mars Cel and I visited a Korean Grocery along West Avenue.

The place was big and the service was great. After eating some ice cream, I bought some noodles to later enjoy at home.

Here's one of them. If this caught your interest, stay tuned to tomorrow's Timeless Confection for a review of not just one but five types of Korean-style ramen.

An Etude House Makeover

Last February 12 and 13, Etude House SM North Edsa celebrated Valentine with its lovable princesses. Too bad I missed it. Thanks to bonafide Etude fan Marilou Arguelles Doma, I was able to experience this one-of-a-kind spectacle through her lovely photos.

Laced with pink balloons everywhere, the event created a fairy tale feel, a distinct trademark of Etude House. Those who attended say that everyone was in high spirits! Excitement filled the air as the princesses sorted through the products and eventually bought the ones which they deemed fit for their skin type and unique needs.

A free pink balloon accompanied every Php 1,000 worth of purchases...

plus some yummy cotton candy on the side.

And of course everyone looked forward to the event's most anticipated portion: a free makeover from professional Korean make-up artists!

During the makeover, Marilou learned a lot about make-up and skin care. She said that before applying make-up, the Koreans prepped her skin by putting on emulsion, tonermoisturizer and sunscreen. She was also advised to put on whitening products although she already has fair skin, just to get rid of dark spots brought about by sun exposure.

After applying sunscreen, the make-up artist put on Blemish Balm or BB cream instead of foundation. To set it, she brushed some powder on Marilou's face instead of using a puff. The artist then proceeded to enhance the rest of Marilou's face by putting on eye shadow, blush, lipstick and eyeliner.

As a memento, Marilou had a photo op with the lovely make-up artists.

She even had her photo taken with the charismatic interpreter who looked like Tak-gu, the main character from the Korean drama, The Baker King.

For the main event, Marilou saved her best shot for her one and only Etude House prince, Lee Min Ho.

What about you? How was your makeover? Would you care to share some of your most favorite moments during the event?
