Verse In Focus: MESSIAH of the MARKETPLACE

There is a particular poster at church that never fails to catch my attention. The words are so incredibly meaningful that I find myself being drawn to the heart of the message time and time again.

Allow me to share it with you in today's post:

                                                    MESSIAH of the MARKETPLACE

I simply argue that the cross be raised 

again at the centre of the marketplace 

as well as on the steeple of the church...  

That Jesus was not crucified in a cathedral 

between two candles, but on 

A CROSS BETWEEN TWO THIEVES; 

ON THE TOWN GARBAGE HEAP;  

AT A CROSSROAD SO COSMOPOLITAN  

they had to write his title in Hebrew

and Latin and in Greek; at the kind of place 

where CYNICS talk smut, THIEVES curse

 and SOLDIERS gamble.  Because that is where 

he died.  And that is what he died about...

that is where churchmen SHOULD BE

and what churchmen SHOULD BE ABOUT.
