Dakilang Katapatan Means I ♥ You

Love is truly in the air!

The month of February ushers in a variety of love symbols meant to warm the heart.

From gorgeous yet overpriced bouquets...

                                                             (Thanks Mama & Ren!)
To yummy cakes...

                                                            (Thanks U & H!)

And to die-for chocolates.

Even Apple Computer concocted a cheesy but definitely cutesy poster listing down some of the most romantic lines ever said on the silver screen.

For me nothing beats these words:

MAHAL KITA.
MINAMAHAL KITA.
INIIBIG KITA.
SINISINTA KITA.
INIIROG KITA.

And the list goes on depending on which part of the country you come from.

Linguists say that a nation's language best exemplifies the character of its people. If that's true, then we Filipinos must know something about love. But love without fidelity is not love at all. God's love teaches us to be faithful by showing us how he has loved us through our ups and down, across times and generations.

Arnel de Pano wrote a beautiful song years ago that exemplifies this truth. Here's Dakilang Katapatan interpreted by tenor Jonathan Badon.

DAKILANG KATAPATAN

SADYANG KAY BUTI
NG ATING PANGINOON
MAGTATAPAT SA HABANG PANAHON
MAGING SA KABILA
NG ATING PAGKUKULANG
BIYAYA NIYA'Y PATULOY NA LAAN

KATULAD NG PAGSINAG
NG GINTONG ARAW
PATULOY SIYANG
NAGBIBIGAY TANGLAW
KAYA'T SA PUSO KO'T DAMDAMIN
KATAPATAN NIYA'Y AKING PUPURIHIN

KORO:
DAKILA KA, O DIYOS
TAPAT KA NGANG TUNAY
MAGMULA PA SA UGAT NG AMING LAHI
MUNDO'Y MAGUNAW MAN
MAASAHAN KANG LAGI
MAGING HANGGANG WAKAS
NITONG BUHAY

KAYA, O DIYOS
KITA'Y LAGING PUPURIHIN
SA BUONG MUNDO'Y AKING AAWITIN
DAKILA ANG IYONG KATAPATAN
PAG-IBIG MO'Y WALANG HANGGAN

KORO:
DAKILA KA, O DIYOS
SA HABANG PANAHON
KATAPATAN MO'Y MATIBAY NA SANDIGAN
SA BAWAT PIGHATI
TAGUMPAY MAN AY NAROON
DALUYAN NG PAG-ASA
KUNG KAILANGA'Y HINAHON
PAG-IBIG MONG ALAY SA 'KIN
NOON HANGGAN NGAYON
DAKILA KA, O DIYOS
