Korean Ice Cream ♪♪♪

If you think that there are a lot of Koreans here in Metro Manila, you're in for a shock. In Baguio, the Korean population is at an all time high! They say that Koreans have been seeking refuge in the City of Pines not just for the cool weather but because of the unresolved and escalating conflict between North and South Korea. In a city where you will see Koreans practically everywhere, it is no wonder that even at SM Baguio there is a store that sells a plethora of Asian food items.



Flavors of Asia offers not only Asian sauces and noodles but also Korean ice cream!




Here I discovered Lotte Black Crunch Bar which I later fell in love with!
This Korean version of our best-loved Pinipig is so positively sinful to the last bite. The vanilla ice cream dipped in an overload of semi sweet chocolate is both crunchy and nutty to delight the senses. Every bite is an absolute delight! I can't wait to get a taste of this at a Korean grocery nearby. I hope that I can still get it for P29.00 though...





Another discovery was Melon Flavored Ice Cream Bar which we got for just P31.00. It is tangy and semi sweet at the same time, filling your mouth with a burst of freshness!

When I first bought these goodies, I was expecting them to be bland and forgettable. But now that I finally tasted Korean ice cream, I don't think my weekends will be complete without getting a taste of either one of them!

Wheatgrass Drinks Anyone?

Whenever I see Ms. Dianne Castillejo's face these days, I am reminded about the importance of wheatgrass to the body. Health experts say that it is laden with a plethora of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids, essential fatty acids and enzymes. Steve "Sproutman" Meyerowitz even went on to say "Wheatgrass is literally condensed sunlight energy and is one of the most potent healing agents on the planet."

One time we gave wheatgrass a try while we were at the mall.



One cup cost around P40. It tasted better than expected perhaps because of the addition of a little honey.

My own wheatgrass concoction which I did at home tasted a bit different. Months ago, I bought wheatgrass at the grocery. I cut the blades and threw them into a blender. No matter how long I tried to grind the blades, they simply won't disintegrate. End product? The water just turned green but none of the vitamin laden pulp and fiber. I haven't tried it in a juicer though. Results maybe more favorable after all.

For now I would say that wheatgrass in sachets is the way to go. Although prices are a bit steep, you can't put a price tag on health, right?

Philippines Is Next on Rain's The Fugitive: Plan B K-Drama

Online viewers are now anticipating the 14th installment of The Fugitive: Plan B, clearly one of the most expensive Korean dramas to date. It's adventure laden with a dallop of humor and romance making it one of the most well-thought [non-historical] Korean dramas in a long time. The show is razor-sharp and precise explaining in a fantastic way the interwoven dilemmas that sprung across Asia. Personally, I felt that I went on an Asian tour with the cast as gorgeous sceneries and landmarks welcomed you in each country.

And I really don't need to explain how great the cast is top billed by our very own RAIN!

Instilling Healthy Habits In Your Child

I'm pretty sure that when Manny Pacquiao won his legendary eighth world title yesterday, several parents said in jest, "Mag-boksingero ka na lang anak para maging milyonaryo tayo." (Son, take up boxing so that we can be millionaires too.) LOL. Not all of our kids are called to be boxers though. Their interests may lie somewhere else. Or if they do like the sport, they may not have the natural ability nor the discipline to become a great sportsman like Manny P. Don't despair. Although they won't grow up as rich and powerful as "Pacman," they can still be winners in their own field and champions in life which are really the most important thing, don't you think?

I would like to share with you my article published on Health Today Magazine that talked about the importance of instilling healthy habits in your child early on. Good habits do result in good behavior which is then translated to living the "good life" worthy of a true, patriotic Filipino.
